Where have I heard this one before? And other school rants.
So loan disbursement was supposed to be the 12th. It should have hit my account on the 12th or 13th, then the refund into my bank account by the end of this week. My sil is a student at the same school but she's been there for a year already. When it didn't hit her account either she knew something was wrong. She called today and...
"There's a problem with the system, a glitch in the system, we hope to have all disbursements out by tomorrow".
So that is EXACTLY what I was told last year. Only it wasn't tomorrow, it was 2 damn months. So yeah, I'm a bit panicked. That "glitch" buried us last year. We still haven't caught up. This year we'll lose our house, our car. Another 2 month delay will be devastating.
Rant #2 --
Online and video courses are chosen by students for a reason. They are filled with mothers and professionals, people with lives and families outside of the school/dorm environment. Sure, there are some younger students, but in my experience the majority of students can't be on campus in a traditional schedule, that's why they take those courses. So explain to me WHY they have a mandatory meeting they don't disclose until less than a week before. Why don't they disclose the fact that testing will be on campus during strict days and times? Why don't they have to tell me that other sections do everything online but THIS section is the one with all these mandatory campus requirements. And guess what? The mandatory times are on M or T nights. I'm sorry but my dh works nights. THAT'S WHY I TAKE ONLINE CLASSES. And note there are NO EXCEPTIONS. Don't make it to the meeting (in which we will read the syllabus to you because heaven forbid we assume college students can read and think for themselves) you get dropped. Period. The end. No exceptions. WTF? Grrrrr.
