So, what do you think about the news about The Rev. Ted Haggard

I will have to say, I have never liked this guy.

I saw him slamming other Christians (in a news report a few months back) who did not agree with him on social/political issues. Going as far as saying they were "sinning" and are not real Christians. (whatever that means)

What makes me sad about my own personal response to this news is that I am not suprised at all.....like it is/was expected.

Seems like those who spew the most hate, end up hiding some whoppers in their own closets.

(Ok, where is the smile where the guy is hiding behind the couch?...I am afraid I need that one after this post)

I know I'm being angry and harsh, but I feel that way. I should say that a negative youth group experience that my children had last week may be playing into this reaction of mine. Our youth pastor played a really bad/inaccurate Halloween "movie" that was put out by radical folks who seem to be in step with this reverend Haggard in their viewpoints.

Oh, here is a link to a headline about this:
Accused pastor admits he bought meth - U.S. Life - MSNBC.com

I agree with your statement about those who spew the most hate are hiding something themselves. It always seems to be that way.

Haggard resigns from Colo. church - U.S. Life - MSNBC.com

Link to the newest article.

Looks like his church board dismissed him from the church as their pastor.

I said I don't like the guy, but I feel so bad for his wife and children. Thinking they all need some prayers.

I still am not shocked and am sick of the hypocrisy all around.

I don't know much about Ted Haggard... I'm not sure I would have even recognized his name before this.

But it makes me feel very very sad. Sad for his family, sad for the people in the church. Sad for him.

It also makes me very thankful for the "safeguards" my DH has set up in his life--weekly accountablility, many other relationships where guys are asking the tough questions.

I didn't recognize his name but dh did (he originally told me about it). I find it so sad for his family and for his church but also for the cause of Christ. It is hard to minister when things like this happen and people will catagorize all Christians by these actions.

It is so easy to be in a position of authority and then begin to think that you are doing something on your own and forget that our strength comes from God.

It's just sad.

I'll be the first to admit I know little about this man (low media house). But I am praying for him and his family. It sounds as though he was trying to hide and handle the situation himself rather than turning it over to Christ so that he could be released from his bondage. Praying that God draws his heart nearer to Christ so that he can find peace and freedom.
