What do you use for a devotional?

I've never read one before but am feeling called to start. I have no clue where to look. Any suggestions for some good titles or authors?

I'm Quaker (Christian), liberal in my interpretations but open to reading just about anything uplifting.

Thanks

I've read many. Right now I"m reading
Minute Meditations for Women
Emilie Barnes (Author of 15 minutes Alone with God)

I love it because when I read it I usually need a quick fix kwim? I don't have time to do a 30 minute devotional right now. I do homedaycare all day and work a 2nd job 3 nights a week. In between life happens lol. I sing with the praise band - life is busy

anyway - these are very quick reads. Then a prayer to say, an action to do and a reflection to right something down you thought of. I try to do one every day - and actually DO the action.

am off to do one now actually. I read it earlier and haven't been to work yet. I'll post it in a minute in a new thread

Right now I'm reading 2 both by Elizabeth George. The first is "A Wife After God's Heart" that I bought for myself and another I got from the library is called "Beautiful in God's Eyes" that is based off of Proverbs 31.

I'm just getting started on reading devotionals. Otherwise, I've just been reading my Bible and praying over what I read.

I have a Life Application Bible and I have just printed two different reading lists. The One Year Bible Plan, which I LOVE. I have the actual One Year Bible, but it sits on the back of my toilet. LOL The other is a two week plan and I have enjoyed reading it too. I'll get you the links if you'd like?

The links would be great, thanks!

Barb, thanks for the reminder of Emilie Barnes, I really like how precise she is. I really like how feminine she is too, she really embraces being a woman.

Thanks for all of the recommendations, I'll check them out.

I don't know that you're still looking, but one that I really like is Glimpses of Grace: Daily Thoughts and Reflections by Madeleine L'Engle. She has a perspective on God and life that a really appreciate. Gentle, but thoughtful.

Here's the Amazon link:

(Sorry, I forget how to rename the link!)
