Humanism. and meetings. connection w/other adults?
I went to a humanist meeting last week. It was pretty cool! But why were they all senior citizens??? That really surprised me. Out of a room full of ppl, there were only 6 of us who were under the age of, oh, about 55. And the speaker was the Utah's Planned Parenthood President!! So it probably had an unusually high number of young ppl there lol.
They just meet once per month, and have a highlighted speaker, I guess from the general community. I'm not used to something so... passive.
There are 2 UU churches in my area. One is open to families for all meetings I believe. I'd love to go. Chicken as anything! But hey, I managed to take my butt to the humanist meeting so maybe I can go to UU too, right? I'm such a baby about these things.
Any other organization/philosophy of thought etc I'm missing? I really seem to be humanist through and through in philosophy, so that means no HP etc. However I really would like "community." What else can I get involved with out in the community where I'd really have the opportunity to connect w/other adults who have similar beliefs? I have a few things in mind, but both require time committments that I can't guarantee at this time. I'd prefer something sort of LLL-like where you can show up or not. But my kids are not babies anymore LOL.
