spiritual discussionsThis is the place at AW for mamas to learn about all different religions and beliefs, to ask questions, to give answers- all done with respect! if you don't have anything nice to say here- don't say anything at all.
I have been very critical in the past about VBS (vacation Bible school) because the one we took our children to (4 yrs ago) was not good at all.
Well, I decided to try again and when we got back from our Yellowstone trip, four of our children went to the VBS that was sponsored jointly by the church we attend (Episcopal) and also a Lutheran and United Methodist church. I guess these three churches have been doing VBS together for the past 4 years now. We missed the first two days of it since we were still on our trip, but the children made it for the last 3 days and the program too.
Anyway, the program was last night and it was not like anything else I've attended before. Even my husband enjoyed it.
I'm really glad that I gave VBS another chance. I figured with the three churches that were doing it, it would be more focused on Gods love and following Jesus etc....and it was.
So, since I was vocal against VBS here in the past, I thought I'd post about this good experience.
Right on. Thats wonderful. I'm glad they enjoyed it and learned and that you were pleased. We loved vbs last year and zoey is very excited about this years program which starts July 11th. Chelsey will volunteer to work again for the week.
I'm really glad you gave it another chance and you all had a better experience

Happy Holidays from my family to yours!
Thanks I'm glad I gave it another chance also. I am learning and realizing so much about myself lately......there are so many areas where I need work. I'm coming along slowly and hope to someday be the woman that I desire to become.
So, while a small thing to some........taking my children back to a VBS was a big step for me.
It was a canned program, I am thinking.....I will not spell this correctly but it was called (I think) "Serengetti Trail".
Location: Failure is a joyless word. Without risk, there can be no gain. If you don't go out on a limb, you will never see the lovely view.

My teens have come such a long way with their peers and amazing things have been happening.
I jsut wish I was as excited as they are.....

Hi there Kristerae! It is good to see you. I was thinking about you and wondering how you were doing with your church. Love the picture in your sig line btw!
We just did VBS this week. It was the same one, Serengeti Trek. The girls just loved it! The songs were really good and very catchy toons. Glad you had a good experience.

The program was just adorable! The songs were so neat, huh?
Hopefully next year, it won't be at the same time as our Yellowstone vacation so our children can be there for the entire week and also so I can volunteer to help out. (we go along with my dh to Yellowstone since he has a conference there for his job......so the date is always the same and not changeable)
