I discovered why I don't want to go to church/temple

I don't want to be bothered. I made the excuse that I didn't want to put my kids in a nursery and have people watch them-people I don't know. I found a UU church that has speakers in its nursery. I could stay with my kids and listen to the sermon! I realized that I don't want to be asked to a potluck dinner, or to be asked to volunteer for something.

I am so ashamed-WTH is wrong with me? Maybe it's the four hours of sleep I've gotten over the past two days that is making me anti-social, lol.

I'm sorry you feel that way Maybe you will meet a friend whom you feel comfortable going to church with and maybe that will open a door for you?

I so know where you are coming from! I am very antisocial at times. I think the most important thing is to find a religion that fits you. Once you are comfortable in the community of believers, the rest will fall in place, eventually. I don't think joining a church has to mean full participation from the get go. That is what community is about...sometimes they carry you, when you don't feel your strongest and when you are feeling strong, then you help carry someone else.

It's ok mama. I think in the priority of needs, church comes after taking care of your physical needs and if going to church and all that entails makes things more stressful for you when you truly need less stress it's ok to put it on hold for a while. It doesn't make you less spiritual.

Sometimes I feel that way too. I just don't want to have to talk to anyone. But, we go to the most amazing church. A few weeks ago, I had the flu, on top of being 37 weeks pregnant and planning a homebirth. Then I pulled a chest muscle coughing. Some of the women in the church took my children for a couple of days (with my permission of course) and sent me to stay at my MIL's for a few days. they cleaned my house, rearranged, with my husband's help even got some new furniture for us.

These are the most amazing people inthe world. So many have offered to watch the older children after Samuel gets here. They have meals lined up for after he is born.

God knows what you need and will help to fil that need.

Keep looking. Try it out. You might be surprised!
