If this is the wrong place for this please feel free to move it. I wasn't sure if it belonged here or not.

Anyway- I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a Healing Alter for kids. We're most likely considered Pagan or Eclectic Pagan I guess (not sure but whatever. LOL) so we don't lean towards anything/anyone in particular. I WOULD however like to make little small alters or even portable alters for my two oldest children and maybe myself. I thought maybe a nice healing alter would be helpful in the coming months as all three of us are recovering from surgeries/studies/scans and etc.

Just something we can kind of turn to to life our spirits and draw strength from you know?

So does anyone have any suggestions on what to put on it or anything else? I'm open to ALL suggestions right now so feel free to clue in the clueless as you see fit.

I'm not much help, I tend to just put whatever "feels" good onto my altar lol. I'm a pretty earthy person myself and love stones. I like citrine, jade, and hematite for healing. I'm pretty eclectic and tend to turn to various deities: Kwan Yin, Lakshmi, Lugh, etc. for help in healing, courage, etc. I often put one of their symbols on my altar. Honstly, I'd just pick shapes, textures, smells, and items that make you feel better by having them near. I like to hold things so most of my altar is pretty tactile.

The top of my son's chest-of-drawers is his altar. It has this neat little wooden "bench" that I found at Marshalls on it, and upon that he has placed various statues of importance to him -- and then around that other things that mean something to him. We try to keep it clear of other things, but sometimes (since he is 8) there might be a book up there too, or a hat... Regardless, he is known to light his own prayer candles (with my permission and supervision ONLY), incense, say prayers, chants, etc. in his bedroom with his altar.

I would place upon it things that mean healing to you -- that symbolize what you're trying to concentrate on. Really, an altar can be anything you want it to be, and have upon it anything you wish, or nothing at all!!

Thank you both very much for the tips.

There are a few deities that each child kind of leans towards that I think I will get either a statue or symbol of, they already each have a bag of healing stones I started for them, and we'll talk and work together to get them more objects that symbolize healing to them.

Becca, thank you for sharing that photo!

Our daughters have a few small items. Specific to their needs.

For example my dd with a chronic disease has a healing candle on her dresser top and a goddess image.

This is an old topic but I thought I would bump it for any new mamas who might have ideas. I never got to make these but would still like to and still plan on using the wonderful ideas that you ladies posted for me.

If anyone has more ideas please feel free to add them for others to enjoy.
