We're not military; although, DH is federal gov.....which still gets a discount on the base golf course! ;P
We're on the East Side....my kiddoes are 7yrs, 6yrs and 5yrs; I'm getting our Grade 2 stuff together. Our first block of the year will be Form Drawing from Nature, and we will be doing a lot of exploring and camping around the area. We went to Heuco Tanks last weekend; Totally Cool...as the huecos were full of water, and we got to see the minnows and fairy shrimp swimming around.
Feel free to contact me off-list to get together...I'll PM you my contact info.
Ack! I should have called you today! My 7yr old annouced for the first time ever that he 'was bored'. Of course...I told him to sally right up and help me fold some towels....and he immediately thought of something else to occupy his time!
We are soooo ready to start school and get back into some sort of routine. Right now...I'm planning on a 4-Day school week...T,W,Th until 2pm...and then wet on wet painting in the morning on Fridays. I'm hoping to find a park day on fridays (hint!hint!) for us to attend in the afternoons.
I just found a suzuki piano teacher, and she scheduled lessons for us on thursdays after school is over.
Is the piano teacher coming to your home? I have started to minimally teach ean the basics but would love to get him a true instructor. Do give the info please!!!
Hey all, I've been here about a year and I am just now looking for a piano teacher for my 6 year old son. We have an appointment on Sunday, we hope he turns out well.
Has anyone tried Hal Marcus on Saturdays for Kid's art class?
Good Luck with the piano teacher. We had our first lesson last week; the instructor is a college student that lives over on the West Side. She is teaching the 'Suzuki Method'; but I thought that she was talking quite a bit more than demonstrating. The kids loved it though...and they've been practicing at home. Additionally, she is only charging me 60/mth for all three kiddlets to have a weekly lesson; so I'll give this a shot.
Wow, what an unbelievable deal. The guy that we called up didn't want to talk about the cost until he meets our son. Which probably means "Costs alot". I'll tell you how it went.
I hope that it goes well! If you want to shop around and try the collage student...PM me and I'll pass along her info. She basically charges a dollar a minute; my youngest is 5 and his lesson is 10mins....my daughter is 6 and her lesson is 20mins...and my oldest is 7.5, and his lesson is 30mins. The lessons are in her home.
She offered to teach them theory...but I told her that we're 'waldorf' and I wouldn't be interested in approaching the theory until third grade.
Thanks for the offer Kimberly, we're going to try this guy out. I will shoot an update after Sunday.
Hi Ashley, we're a military family too. My son will turn 7 in November and we're trying to figure out his birthday party. Last year we did it at a pony ranch, which was pretty cool. He doesn't care for that theme again though...lol
We just hate to have it at adventure zone or something, too commercial for our tastes. Any suggestions?
