DC area moms?

We are in Charles County, Maryland. Chris is stationed in DC at Marine Barracks. We've been here for 15 years this August - 5 more to go until we head home to SC. Not that I'm counting.

Who else is in this area?

How'd you end up with 20 years in the same duty station??

It's because of Chris' job. He's a musician in the USMC and there's really nowhere else for him to go. His degree is in Trumpet Performance. Right after he graduated from college, he came up to DC and auditioned for the Drum and Bugle Corps. He was accepted, and then he joined the Marine Corps. Kind of backwards, maybe. This job suits him perfectly, though - he is able to perform and actually use his degree. He's the horn line instructor, directs sometimes, and has produced their last 3 CDs.

It has some advantages, like being able to settle down some. Have a home church, build equity in a home, etc. The downside is that the DC area is not where I would have chosen to raise my family. I do like where we live, though. We picked it because it reminded us the most of home. The DC crime and traffic, though - ugh!

Now that was a long answer to a short question!

I'm not really DC area, but I'll say HI! We're in Carroll Cty MD, about a 90 minute drive to DC.

There are LOTS of DC area moms on this board. Hope you guys can have lots of fun get-togethers. I sure wish I would have known about Amity when I lived there. We moved a year ago to TX, but lived inside the beltway for 1 year, then moved to Odenton for 2 more.

Smile I'm in western MD, but hubby works downtown DC

Hi guys... We live up in Western Maryland, but my hubby works right downtown in DC, so we're in there several times a month to have lunch with Daddy or usually to go to Whole Foods Market or get some good vegetarian food... :-) So, I'd be interested in any happenings in the DC area... Nice to "meet" you all.
