Winter Holiday Tree Quilt Square SWAP... sign up in new thread

I just got my winter quilting magazine today and there is a really cute design for a christmas tree quilt. I thought it would be really fun to do it as a swap.

Basically, each participant would make their own complete square with their own version of a tree. The number of squares would depend on the number of people in the swap. (there would have to be a minimum number of slots, of course) Since it's only Oct, there's plenty of time to get the squares made, swaped and the quilts put together.

Any takers???

The magazine's website still has their last issue up, so I scaned a pic of the quilt...

I wouldn't impose any rules about what the tree looked like, just the size of the finish square. So, if you want to do a traditional christmas tree, that's cool. And, if you want to do a leaf-less tree with snow, that's cool too.

What ever comes to your mind when you think about a tree in December.

would there be a set background color? This is a really cool swap... and if we're still in the apt, we won't have a real christmas tree.. this is one I might could justify dragging to my mom's and doing

I wouldn't put any restrictions on the square, other than the finished size and that a tree be the central theme.

That's really cute! Is it applique? My appliques don't always come out very well, but I found a pieced square online that might be doable -

I want in. I'll get whatever I need to do it later today. I'm not sure if I'll do a christmas tree, or if I'll do a 'naked' tree with snow. I'll have to see what I come up with at Joanne's.

OKay - you've tempted me. I've been organizing my stash and have TONS of scraps to work with. Now I just have to learn to applique.
