Please post your swap ideas, when you would be interested in doing them (need to wait a week, a month?) If you are interested in hosting a swap, please post that too, as well as the number of participants you would like to have, what kind of swap it would be, (do we send to individuals, or to one mama who then divides?), etc.
I'll try to brainstorm and figure an orderly way to organize them, maybe by month, swap name, hostess, number of participants, something like that, for quick reference, so we can all plan ahead! I would love to see more swaps going on in here, I wish I had more time to devote to organizing and hosting them, I just won't until after we get our homeschool routine in order...
"Back-Tack" swap/contest with a specific project selected (like a notions organizer or something). I'll post more on this later, but for now:
"Back-tack is a craft-come-sewing swap with a twist. You send fabric and anything else you'd like your partner to use in creating their project, like zippers, buttons, ribbon, to someone (they don't know who you are, you do this anonymously), and receive fabric from someone (anonymously). Once you've received your fabric/notions you get to work sewing the project (you'll be sewing for a different person than the one you sent fabric to) and then filling it with items you think your fellow back-tacker would like and sending it on to them for them to enjoy. You will be sending the project to a different person to the one who sent you the material."

n. Informal Something about which one frequently complains; a particular personal vexation.
I'd like to see a Oct swap (to allow time for stragglers plus shipping, etc.) for the holidays. Esp. something for us Mamas, as we're usually getting left out. The holidays are going to be kind of tight around here, and I'm up for any sort of swaps I can get in on to help.
Same thing with a springtime "fill the eggs" kind of swap for Ostara/Easter.
I love the idea of a winter holiday swap for mamas since we tend to get so few surprises lol. I also think a bathroom swap would be fun with things like bath puppets, hooded towels, bath toys, edged guest towels, hair towels, hanging organizers etc would be fun. Some kind of small item/stocking stuffer swap would help me get a jump on my holiday sewing too.
I was just thinking about a black and white quilt, so that one sounds fabulous. I also like the mythical creatures one. A nursery rhyme themed one might be fun too since there are a lot of prints out there. (Says the woman with 14 different Hey Diddle fabrics rofl) But then I just love square swaps in general
Hi there, I'm new to this part of Amity's so please indulge me. I would love to do the black and white square swap with you guys. Is this a finished square or just a set size cut of one fabric? I would be willing to be the host for this one if that is OK. I just need some direction.

I love the Around the World and Mythical creatures themes, bathroom and nursery rhyme ideas!
I'd like to suggest these swap themes:
[b]Sewing Accessories Swap for October[/B ] (organizers, needle holder, machine cover, thread catch bag etc). Amy will host, sign-ups begin Sept 10th through Sept 17th, shipping October 10th, 15 spaces (can sign-up for multiple partners if desired)
Cloth napkin and/or placemat swap for November, Amy will host, sign-ups begin Oct 10 through Oct 17th, shipping by Nov 7th, sets in 4, 6 or 8, can either do partner or group swap - will decide later.
Gift bag swap for December, Amy will host, sign ups begin Oct 31st through November 7th, shipping by December 1st, group swap for 12 bags (4 small, 4 med, 4 large), unlimited participants.
Mystery Fabric swap for January - send one yard of fabric and one notion to your partner then post a SnS with the finished product! Amy will host, sign-ups Jan 1-5th, shipping by Jan 12, SnS by Jan 31st.
Other theme ideas:
batik, pop culture, celestial, Asian, children, faces, food, romance, vintage prints, animal prints, baby
Oh -just thought of an Elemental square swap - air, fire, water, earth and spirit themed fabric. That could be very cool.
FAT FACT:
20 years ago a standard cup of coffee was 8 ounces and had 45 calories.
Today's 16 ounce cup of "brand" coffee has 350 calories.
You need to walk approximately one hour and 20 minutes to burn off the extra 305 calories in the "brand" coffee.
Wanted to add something I just found on the net too. This sounds like a lot of fun, it's called a "Back-Tack" swap/contest with a specific project selected (like a notions organizer or something). I'll post more on this later, but for now:
"Back-tack is a craft-come-sewing swap with a twist. Just wanted to let everyone know I am reading all these AWESOME ideas and will update the OP Monday morning, my weekend time is WAY limited, but I will get them updated!! and respond to the questions too
I would love a wintery/snowflake square swap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not christmasy though.
I want to make a quilt that I can leave out all winter and have some good snuggles in.
I get so burnt out on the christmasy stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
So, is anyone planning to host the space quilt swap? (planets, stars, spacecraft etc. I'd prefer no aliens, but whatever works) I would really really really like to do that one.
And how about a beanbag swap? Everyone makes a different textured/filled beanbag to swap. I'd love a set of different textures, and it would be fun to do as a swap.
Beanbags sound cool, but I think shipping would be prohibitive - that would be one heavy package!
A space swap sounds cool - if no one else volunteers, I'll post it after I wrap up the winter swap.

I keep forgetting this thread is here! I would love to participate in a space quilt square swap, and I think I'd be even willing to host it, if you'll give me some tips, Sonya! I'm thinking celestial squares might work well in this one, too. and planets. and rockets. and stars. this could be really cool!
