Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
The photos are fantastic, as is the skirt! I think my 19 year old dd would still like to wear something like that.
Where did you find that great pattern?

I used the directions from the martha stewart site, but had to size up since that one was for a 18mo size! I took the length I needed (15") and divided by 3 (5") to get the length of the sections. Took her waist measurement (20") multiplied by 2 to get the width of the yoke - the length of it is 2x what the tiers were so that it could be doubled over. Each tier/sections was 3x the width of the previous tier.
So my pieces were -
satin (static free lining fabric from JA) yoke 10x40"
first tier 5x120" (two of these)
2nd tier 5x360" (two of these)
ruffle 2.5"(I'd do 3-3.5 next time) - 12 of the full width of the fabric
My fabric was 60" wide, so I cut 16 5" wide pieces of the full width plus the ruffle. Using just a little over 3yrds for this size.
Note - I DID NOT piece all the ruffles together end to end, just overlapped them as I was gathering by about 1/2". Because they're so narrow, and get folded in half, you can't tell, and there was no way I was sewing that many skinny things together end to end!!

Do you happen to remember how much materials ran?
(presale prices on the pettis I found are $30 and I'm wondering if it's more or less expensive to make it) A local mama and I had a whole conversation about how much yardage, time, etc. go into them and how this company can't be making any money
Wow! That is amazing. Great job. And those photos are too cute!
