The fishermans pants that I have are linen, very like the slightly rough "linen look" fabric that they have at JoAnn's. It's a linen rayon blend. That's personally my favorite fabric aside from 100% linen. I really love the texture. It's pricey though.

For a first try I'd prob go with a nice quilters cotton like Kona or even Sateen. I could also see this skirt being super comfy in brished flannel.

Oh great, now you've given me ideas.

I have a pair of those pants too. Mine are made outta rayon if I remember right.
(i'm to lazy to walk up stairs and look at them right now)
