Wanna help me pic out fabrics for the infamous dress?

Still no takers on sewing the civil war dress...but I thought I would start looking for fabrics. Any suggestions on where to look? I'd love to know what you mamas think would look nice.

Here are my preferences, though I'm open to other ideas: cranberry/wine color <--first choice, blues, plums, dark greens = second choices, calico or other all-over print...as much as I would LOVE vertical stripes or a simple homespun plaid, it will not happen if I'm going to have to attempt this myself...LOL!, under $5/yard - can budge a little if it's something I ADORE, free shipping if online - this is a MUST.

ETA: Changed my mind...stripes and plaids are okay...I may go insane doing this, but dangit...I'll like it.

I wish I could take the dress project on for you, but we are preparing to move to Italy in a few months so no big projects for me at this stage, but I would be glad to help as much as possible.

Have you browsed the walls and aisles of the Jo Ann's calicos and homespuns? There are lots of beautiful things there and they are usually reasonably priced and seem to go on sale very other month too. lol

How about I send you some for free? Please.

An older lady gave me bolts and bolts of calico quilting fabric. May I please send some your way? You may use it, share it, Goodwill it, or line a bird cage with it. It is just sitting in my closet...tons and tons of it. I can pick you out some of the colors you mentioned. Please?

ETA: Does anybody else need some of this? There is plenty to go around.

do you have chat...msn or yahoo? I think I can do this for you, but would really need to know more. And I am willing to do a partial trade for a carrier if you want.

Melony, do you have any fabrics that would be good GN baby fabrics?
