everything is turning out BIG. <<sigh>>
here's the nappy (or is it knappy?) sack (amy butler pattern). it's huge. at first i was a little bummed, but it fits perfectly over the back of my little umbrella stroller and i've really been wanting a bag for that stroller. and it's not too obscenely big over my shoulder. lol definately more of a diaper bag or a book bag than a purse, though.
it's got really yummy deep navy/almost purpley wide wale cotton cord for the outer and a cool sort of heavy (much heavier than quilter's cotton, almost as heavy as denim but not as stiff) batik i got from joann's (was next to the shirtings, i think they called it "transitional"). i am so happy with how they worked for this bag! i skipped the canvas the pattern calls for (to use like interfacing) and i like the floppiness of it.
here's the pockets that the pattern called for (big is inside out but it's fully reversible, which i didn't realize till i was done -- now i'm kind of wishing these pockets were on the corduroy side because they make really nice outside pockets). they're lined with light blue suedecloth, which i hope will be kind of sturdy.
and here's a pocket on the other side that i did from
this tutorial, except i skipped the zipper. it doesn't really gape open like that naturally, i pulled it open for the pic.
and here's a romper i love except it's made for a giant two year old. i hope my little guy grows into it before he potty trains. the kangaroo pocket looks pretty silly down around his hips. lol
and here's a close-up of the fabric, which i adore! do you think the neckhole looks too big or okay? i'm thinking of making one exactly the same except to take some length out of it and skip the pocket.
thanks for looking!
