Talking An OT (I am soooo excited about it too!) and a technique question!

First the OT, I GOT A NEW CAR!!!! Well new to me, it's a 96 ford taurus, with power everything, airbags, and priced very nicely. A foreign exchange student was going back to her country and needed to get rid of it so she priced it VERY low. Tom was actually able to get a bank loan for it and the payments are for one year and very affordable for us. Now no more worrying about me breaking down anymore, which is a huge relief.

Tom bought it for ME, and said he isn't ever going to drive it, that way we can see who actually puts more wear on the car...lol (Our cars always break down, he says it cause I don't drive them like I should, I drive like an old lady. He drives like a race car driver, always getting on it....) He is driving the clunker, that has already broken down twice since we got it 3 months ago, we'll see whos car lasts longer....

Ok and the sewing question. I saw someone mention this on another thread.....how do you get your tags sewn in straight? Mine are always crooked and seem like a huge task to get them in correctly. Is there a tip or something you do to make them look more professional? Half the time I won't sew one in, just cause I think the garment looks more professional with out a crooked tag on it....lol

Congrats on the new car! I hope it won't give you grief.

For the tags, the only way I've found to make them straight is to baste them. Otherwise they're crooked more often than not, and that bugs me to no end. So I figure that it's quicker to take the time to baste them than to redo the seam just because of the &@#$%?& tag.

I tack them in with some really ugly colored thread so I won't forget to take it out.

I spritz of 505 adhesive spray holds them right in place. Works for a 1000 other things too. I couldn't sew without the stuff. Sewzanne's carries it, or did anyway.

Congrats on the car!

I've been basting but sheesh, I have the spray, I should use that, LOL. The stuff at WM, "Quilt Basting Spray" I hear is about the same, I bought some. It smells just like Aqua Net though, open a window!

And mega congrats on the new car!! Lucky you!
