*happy dance* I bought a new machine!!

Ooh!! I am so tickled, I can't wait to come join here w/ SnS's....oooh!!

Due to finally feeling the need to retire my machine that was going to need more service $$ than it was worth... I went 'shopping' yesterday just to nose around.

After long chats w/ a lovely woman I bought a new sewing machine!!!

I bought

Brother XL-2230
http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Brother_XL2230

It was on sale for $149.99 (Canadian) and it is a perfect machine for what I want to do. I don't have a sewing room so I take over the dining room table for my projects.

I am only 5'0 so 50% of my sewing is hemming my pants.

The rest going to be pj's and clothes for my kids and nephew and maybe a set of lounge pants or two for DH as well as curtains and stuff around the home.

I *wish* I had more time to sew... but I work F/T and w/ two kids and a DH it just isn't going to happen this year... so instead I am really happy w/ this machine. It is a starter machine for me and if I find that I am still into sewing really heavy, then I am going to upgrade for a much better one next summer

I "do" have a serger, but it isn't a great one at all. I Have the Singer Tiny Serger (have you seen the little ones??) but I want to buy a real one w/ a blade so that I can use it properly!! May be going to buy a serger this weekend.. (*peeks around to make sure DH isn't reading... hee hee*)

YAY!! Brand new machine, 10 meters of fabric I bought to go w/ it and DH put two old dressers in the garage up against the wall for me for my 'stash' of fabric and I have a storage shelf there too for my machines when not in use, and my notions/ sewing totes... etc.

Oooh!! I am so happy!!!!

Thank you so much!! I promise to treasure her... hee hee..

I used to sew alot... back in the day. Then after ex and I split my machine went into the back of the closet while I dealt w/ life.. then met DH, married, more life, another child.. OMG HOW did 8 years fly by??

I am currently working on some adorable flannel pants for DS w/ some cute wrestler fabric I bought (NWO patterned fabric) and it is the first thing I have attempted to do in YEARS and it is all coming back to me!!

Ooh... I am tickled pink!!

(BTW have to add DH came home w. a huge gifty for the house yesterday.... a new dishwasher!!!!!!!!!!! The old one broke in August and I have been doing dishes by hand. DH said if I need more sewing time to have "mama time" in the evenings, then a dishwasher is NECESSARY and he wont take my arguements over the cost any more!!)

Wheew!! I am so happy today!

Yes, that is a must! Your dh definitely sounds like he understands a sewing mama's needs. He's a keeper. Hope the pants turn out great.

Heather... LMAOO...no kidding huh??

Dh is wonderful... he is so cute. For Christmas he bought me some gorgeous fabric, 3 different prints, 2 meters of each and put a note in w/ it saying he knew how important "the stash" was to me..... awe....

The dishwasher is just wonderful...gives me more time in the evenings instead of washing dishes all the time! YAY DH!!!!

Caution: I ruined my first machine by leaving it out in the garage when not in use.

LOL Watch out! It will soon take over an entire room!

But seriously, if you can at least find a spot indoors for storing the machine, that may save you heartache later. Maybe you can keep it in a closet.

Good luck carving out your space!

I think right now I am going to push for a place in the back rec room as long as the kids leave it alone. My 11 yr old is a sewing addict and my 4 yr old likes "Buttons" lol
