Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
The lighting isn't all that good in here at night... and excuse the lovely orange/brown shag carpet... it's a rental! lol Anyway - I just made this for Lauren. It's the dyed stripes from Allison, dyed royal blue (color is off in the picture, it's brighter and prettier than the picture). I used the latest Ottobre boy's tank top pattern and just added a skirt to it about 2" below the arm holes. I also made her a pair of little shorts for underneath the dress. I think I did a good job of lining up the stripes... I was proud of that one. Used white ribbing on the neck and arm holes... bound with the coverstitch. LOVE THAT!
So tell me about the ribbing. Did you iron it first (I'm assuming so)? Was it pretty easy with the CS?
Irons and me do NOT get along... so no. I serged the ribbing to the area where I wanted it. I had one of hte seams open, though - so at the neckline, I had one shoulder seam open still. Then I serged the seam closed, folded the ribbing aroudn the serger seam allowance, and used the cs to topstitch it in place.
Location: under a pile of fabric, laundry, and toys!

"So let them be little
'Cause they're only that way for a while
Give 'em hope, give them praise
Give them love every day
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle
Let 'em sleep in the middle
Oh but let them be little" - Billy Dean
