I'm not sure if I'll be able to write for a Janome 8000? I think the amazing box II will do it but I'm not sure.

not so crazy about the marie osmond ones, but I really like the first link. It looks more victorian. I'm thinking my dad would love these for a gift

Do you have the amazing box yet? I'm waiting for the embroidery machine I got on ebay to arrive too. I'm getting excited for mine to arrive. I couldn't afford the box yet or any extra cards so I'll pretty much be limited to the 90 or so designs it comes with for now.

Yep, its called free standing lace. Very popular and some of it is more grandmotherish than I would care for, but some is really pretty. You can make nearly any design into a free standing one by embroidering on tulle over a thick water soluable stabilizer. I usually use aqua mesh, but badgemaster, romeo, etc will work too.

Angela, you will need some sort of 'drive' to make disks for your machine. It doesn't take cd's or floppy disks. Basically, you will download a deisgn to your disc writer, copy onto the machine disc. So in order to use any designs off of CD's or downloads, you need to have some type of writer.

Also, the Janome machines use .sew format. That design comes in .sew format, so if you have a writer you could use it. BUT, some designs only come in .pes or other formats. THEN, you would need another progrma to convert it. I use (and like) Buzz Tools.
