Pattern Questions-

Im trying to get organized cause right now I just have a bunch of patterns everywhere and Ive been tracing them onto tracing paper and Im not storing them well.

1. How do you store your patterns?
2. Do you actually cut the pattern or trace it/laminate....?
3. whats your favorite patterns?
4.whats your fav brand of patterns?
5. Do you find the sizes to run true or big/small for the most part?

Thanks!

1. How do you store your patterns?

I use plastic file baskets. One for children's patterns, one for mama patterns, one for men's patterns and one for household/craft patterns. I also have a separate basket for Ottobre/Burda Kids and one for Burda Mode. They fit neatly on my shelf and I can pull out one basket to search for what I need, depending on what I want to make.

2. Do you actually cut the pattern or trace it/laminate....?

I never trace Big 3. If it's a pattern I think I'll need more than one size in, I buy 2 or 3 copies of it. I've never paid full price for Big 3, so it's easy to buy 3 when they're $.99 I trace everything else.

3. whats your favorite patterns?

I don't really have favorite actual pattern #s. I don't sew the same thing over and over very often so I use new ones a lot.

4. whats your fav brand of patterns?

Burda, Ottobre, Kwik Sew.

5. Do you find the sizes to run true or big/small for the most part?

Burda, Ottobre and Kwik Sew always do. Big 3 never do, lol.

1. How do you store your patterns?
I cut apart the envelope, tape it onto a large manilla folder, and put the pattern, instructions and tracings inside. If I had a good file cabinet I'd do this in file folders and put different sized tracings together.

2. Do you actually cut the pattern or trace it/laminate....?
If I love a pattern I take it to Kinkos and make copies (really this only works for KS) then I just cut out my copies. Big 3 I cut (usually) the rest I trace on quilters gridded tracing paper

3. what are your favorite patterns?
For my little girls:
2596 Tunics, Leggings & Shorts
3034 Sleepwear
2511 Dress, Panties, Rompers & T-Shirts

older girl:
3169 Tops & Skirt
2939 Tops & Skirts
2709 Dresses
2824 Cardigan, Top, & Skirt

mama:
KS 3115 Pants & Tops
Jalie 2005 Choice of Tee shirts (LOVE it!)
Favorite Things Cute Skirt

4.whats your fav brand of patterns?
Kwiksew for kids, some Ottobre, Burda. So far I'm loving Jalie for me

5. Do you find the sizes to run true or big/small for the most part?
If you measure and buy the correct pattern, it usually is a good fit no matter what. Big Three run large imo, but if you follow their measurement guide it usually works out.
