Has anyone made the "little blossom" doll from Magic Cabin?

I know...I'm not supposed to be on the internet. Except I need to get a birthday gift for dh's bio daughter who is turning 13. He asked her last night what she wanted and her words "I'm still into dolls, but my parents don't really get that (lol) and I'm going to be into them for a long while to come". This made us lol, we weren't expecting that answer. She has great parents, btw. She's also into drumming, crafts and crazy socks.

So, I thought about a dollmaking kit. Magic Cabin says the little blossom doll can be made by children 12 and up. If you've made this doll, do you think that's accurate? I don't want to send her something that's way beyond her age/ability. FTR...her mom is an artist and can probably sew a little bit, so she probably could help her out.

It's either a dollmaking kit (if you know a better one, please tell me about it) or the Wee Felt book and some supplies for that. Which one?

I've got to order it today as this girl lives in Alaska and I need to get it, wrap it and have it to her by 6/2.

you may have already ordered soemthign for her but i thought I'd put in my 2c anyway. lol

I think a 13 yo could make that doll I haven't used a magic cabin kit but have made similar dolls). The biggest thing I would worry about woud be making the wig.

If I were goign to order a kit for a first time doll maker I would probably order her this kit from Joy and get a premade wig and possible a premade head. those are the hardest parts.

don't forget to buy the needles! gthey don't come in either kit

Thanks.

I chickened out and just ordered her the introduction to needle felting kit from Bella Luna Waldorf Toys. I'm going to think about that doll kit for Christmas, though.

Can you find out what kind of dolls? She might mean Am Girl dolls. I was into Sasha dolls (Another and One More at her age and even older.

I still have fond memories of going to the doll store/hospital with my mom. The old woman who worked there was very kind and just loved the dolls. I felt a little silly about liking dolls at my age, but they were just soooo sweet. Now that I'm older it's OK to like them again.

Anyway, I'm not sure what kind she's into, but she might enjoy the dollhouse doll kit from Magic Cabin. I've made one and think she'd be able to do one just fine. I haven't tried a bigger one, though...
