Skipping stitches-need help

I was trying to make a diaper last night and when sewing the elastic into the leg area my regular zig zag kept skipping. I had to seam rip it all out and then I adjusted my presser foot tension. Still skipped. Ripped it out again. Tried a new needle and rethreaded the machine and tried it again. Still skipped. Tried seam ripping it again and tore a hole in the knit outer. I don't know what's wrong.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Andrea

Did you make sure you are using a new needle? Also make sure it's the correct type and size for the type of material you are sewing on. Have you tried adjusting your tensions a bit? Maybe that might help some.....I dunno, just throwing things out there...lol

OK- double checked that I was using a ballpoint needle (I'm sewing knits) and sat down to sew a cover, now my bobbin is jamming all up. I just took it apart and cleaned it all out. I am so frustrated right now. I only have 2 weeks to sew a ton of diapers and covers.

Any more suggestions, or should I just take it it? I feel like I've done every troubleshooting solution in my manual.

Well if your bobbin is jamming, that usually means you need to adjust your upper tension, have you tried that? See if that helps any. ALso check your tension disc, where the upper thread runs through and see if there is any lint or anything in there. Give it all a good cleaning and oiling as well. That is about all the advice I can give....hope that helps some.

it may be a problem with the timing which will probably require servicing.

Try re-winding a new bobbin. My machine does that sometimes if the bobbin isn't wound properly.
