Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
"This is a difficult announcement for me to make, but I know it is something that I have to do. I hope that you know how much I care for you and what is happening in your lives and has happened over these past 7 years. It is my birthday today, so I felt this would be the perfect time.
The site is almost 7 years old! I cant believe it. I remember the beginning, when I was a lonely mama who wanted to be more attached. I also wanted to try cloth diapers, but was never quick enough to get them off the Parent's Place boards! So, I cheated and created my own swap board.
There have been so many love letters from mamas, and so much love sent to me. It has been a wonderful addition to my life. You have taught me so much, and are teaching eachother so much every single day. You are making a difference for generations to come. All of our children have been blessed by the relationships that we have formed here. That is how amazing you are!
My life has changed now. I am not able to take care of the site as I should. My children are 14, 13, and 7- and besides working, I am running all over the place to take them to their 5,000 activities. I want you to have the best care, but emotionally and physically- I just cant do it. It isn't fair to myself, my family, or the members here for me to keep holding on when it is time for someone else to take better care of this amazing place. You all deserve more attention, and I need to only concentrate on my family right now. I am old and tired after all- 35 today! But, I am also very happy and content to be this age.
What happens now? I will be accepting best offers, along with a letter of interest/vision. The decision will be made based on the combination of best offer/ best letter of interest/vision. There will be a few stipulations of course- that the Lifetime Advertisers are taken care of, and the current wahm advertisers are taken care of. That no plastic diaper company or formula company will ever advertise here. That the new owner stays true to the original 'vision', of a peaceful community based on gentle parenting. I would like the new owner to be in place by August 1 and totally running the site. I will wait as long as it takes, though, to find the right person. I am creating a small pdf file with statistical information. I will post a link to that pdf file soon.
We recently found out that my daughter has a deformity in both her upper and lower jaws, which will require 2-3 surgeries in the next year. The stress of that made me realize that it is time for me to reduce my stress levels and get back to basics for my family. I took a long look at my life, and I realized that this community may be better served by someone with younger children-- someone with more time and maybe more knowledge in web workings.
I want to chicken out, but I know it is time. I hope you know how much I care for this amazing community that you have built to be so strong, and that I know the new owner will bring amazing abilities and serve you well.
Clicking post is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I am letting go of a big part of my life. I know it's time. Thank you from my soul.
So much love to you and so many Blessings,
Amity"
Hopefully if/when this place switches hands the sewing forum won't go poof

*WARNING* Stupid crap flies out of my fingers on occasion. In case it's aimed your way, DUCK!
Yes, I've known about the possibility of this for a few weeks now, but I'm very sad to see that it's actually happening. Of course, Amity must do what's best for herself and her family and I certainly can't be upset with her for her decision. I just hope that we don't lose this place!
