Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
I was inpired by Shannon's couch S&S earlier this week so I got to work on recovering my own chair, which as you can see was becoming a necessity at this point. It's a really nice chair (down cushions) but the slipcover had been used by the cats to sharpen their claws over the years and had really seen better days. LOL I set out to recover the whole thing, but stopped at the cushions -- whew, this is a lot of work, recovering furniture! At any rate, I still have yards and gobs of this 100% cotton chocolate velvet, so I'll probably do it sometime. I have a down pillow to do too, but I want to wait on my Amy Butler fabric to arrive so I can use it.
Without further ado... The before shot.

I'm really pleased with how the cushions came together. Zippers are SOOOO much easier on upholstery than on clothing. I did a "hidden" zipper and then also overlaped the sides so that you can't see where the zipper stops and starts.
TFL!!!

that looks so nice! I would love to see pics of your house now that you guys are in it and you have started decorating. I really love old houses!
Once I start decorating, I will! I'm waiting on my AB fabrics to arrive for the downstairs... I have the fabric for my bedroom, and did already complete the sheers in there (out of necessity LOL) but haven't had the inspiration to do the rest of the stuff in there yet.
Beware. I did my cushions over a year ago. Pathetic huh? It took me a year to face up to the body of the couch. Fabulous chair and the zippers look great. I was impatient when I started and didn't want to wait to go get long zippers so I used snaps.

Shannon, I recycled the zippers. I did have to wait to start though, to go out and buy the stuff for the piping. I almost left it off all-together, but I thought it really needed it. And I do like the result. But I think that's what's holding me back from starting on the cover itself (which obviously is GONNA HAVE TO HAPPEN) because that chair is natural colored linen.
