Elllure skipping stitches and breaking thread using double needle????

I was making Gabe a pair of shorts out of the prr sharks ripstop last night and I noticed that my Ellure was skipping stitches when I topstitched the pocket (3 layers of ripstop) but not when I was sewing over the waist band which was two layers plus elastic. Is ripstop that tough that it would cause skipping? May I need a different needle?

Also, when I use a double needle with the Ellure the left thread always breaks which makes hemming a PITA. Any suggestions? I just got back in the groove of sewing again and really don't want to have to send my machine in for fear I will end up in another rut.

TIA

I could be wring but I think Faith/Mosaicmama has the same issue with her ellure. My brain isn't fully functioning this morning but I'm pretty sure it is the ellure that she has. LOL You might PM her or keep this bumped for her to see. I don't think she's online yet today.

You have a good memory Michelle Yep, my Ellure has the same issue with the double needle I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. I finally just quit using a double needle on it. I'd love to know if anyone else has figured out how to successfully use a double needle on an Ellure and what their secret is.

As far as the skipped stitches on the topstitching, I'm not sure. My Ellure has topstitched through four layers of denim and as long as I go slow, it does great. The only thing I can think of is to try a fresh needle and rethread the machine and the bobbin.

Thanks for your replies

I had just changed my needle so I don't think it is that. It is only skipping on the 3-4 layers of ripstop part so I am hoping that it is just a thickness issue.
