Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
How did you do the elastic on the back?
I just made one (love the pattern, btw) and put it in a casing, sewn right below the ties, but I'm curious how its supposed to be done. Inside/outside/casing/stitched to the skirt/?

In the instructions it tells you to cut a piece 2.5 cm x 27 cm, that's the piece you'll thread the elastic through. On page 26 is the detailed instruction section that Heather mentioned. It's item #2 on that page "gummibandstreifen". You'll take the strip and press it in half lengthwise, so it's now 1.25 cm tall. Stitch across the bottom, then thread the elastic through the top. When you're stitching the fashion fabric of the bodice to the lining, line up the cut end of the elastic/tube with the side of the bodice at the bottom under the loops, when you get around to the other side, pull the other side of the elastic tube around and line it up with the other side of the bodice. When you turn the bodice right side out the little elastic dealy will look something like a bridge between the two sides of the back bodice.
Did that make any sense?

Yes, thank you! Sounds a little more elegant than my solution.
I didn't even think to look for closeups in the instructions... "Siehe seite 26" suddenly makes sense, lol.
I was just getting ready to trace and attempt that one! lol! The little loops that hold the ties...are those done just like the straps with pressing in half then folding in ends to the fold line and sewing the edges? Or are those little ribbons or something? They just look so itty bitty in the close-up pic.

I just stitched and turned both the loops and the ties. I didn't see any topstitching in any of the photos, so figured that's how it was supposed to be done.
Here's how I did it, not sure if this is right.
I only had room for 3 sets of loops, and I didn't do the elastic right (which would have taken up more room). This was the smallest size, 92.
I was surprised not to see any topstitching in the photos, because I topstitched the daylights out of this thing!
