Pre-washing...

I've gotten fabric from a couple of mom's recently that was prewashed w/soap, made the package smell great. Who else does that? Is there a reason? Just wondering cause I just wash on hot w/no soap, don't know why it's just how I've always done it, lol.

I usually prewash everything with an unscented detergent.

I love it when I get pretty smelling fabric though.

It never occurred to me not to use detergent and I always buy scented. No reason why here either, just how *I've* always done it.

Me too, we've always used Tide, as long as I can remember and I just use it cause my mom uses it. I'm so used to the smell I don't even notice it. Which is why I love smelling other people's clean clothing, one of those weirdo things I do, when I go over to my best friends house and she has a basket of clean clothing out I always grab something and smell it (I avoid the underwear, I'm not that weird ) always smells so good!!

Jayme~It was your package that came today, it smelled soooooooo good

OMG, I choked, bad, and the kids found out I was snacking on some chocolate before dinner

I prewash w/ scented soap & sometimes even use fabric softener.

I use detergent, just whatever I have on hand (read: what's on sale LOL). But I only use half of what they recommend -- leftover habit from my diapering days. LOL

I love the downy advanced (or enhancer, whatever it's called). The one with the blue lid. YUMMY! I dont' use fabric softener on PRR or fabrics that are to be dyed though...

I sometimes prewash with Dr. Bronner detergent in peppermint... Ooooo that smells good.... so that I can smell it while I'm sewing. Otherwise I use Tide Free, for some reason the regular tide is a little strong for me scent wise.

I used to never use detergent when I prewashed, but after reading here about kids wiping their noses on fabric in the fabric store I use detergent, lol! Also, sometimes if the fabric doesn't make a full load I throw dirty clothes in along with it so I need detergent for those!

that's what I usually do Jenn! I throw in regular laundry to fill the washer so I"m not washing a partial load. Of coarse you have to be careful with the dark fabrics and just throw in jeans and really dark shirts/pants so that the color doesn't transfer to your towels!

I usually use Dreft to wash clothes and fabric. It smells so good. Sometimes I use Gain though but usually its Dreft. I usually wash my fabric when it comes in the mail or bought from the store anyways no matter where its coming from, not that i think people are gross. I'm just weird I guess. I've gotten fabric in the mail with that wonderful cigarette smell. UGH Some of it I just tossed cuz thats disgusting when the smell didn't come out of a few I had bought. I can deal with pet hair but smoke smell is just gross. Which reminds me of a time i got this bag off eBay and it was "supposed" to be new and it gets here and i swear it smelled like some old person whos been smoking for 50 yrs and has that nasty hacking up a lung cough. Oh it was really gross. Anyways, I'm rambling cuz I'm bored. Maybe I'll go post some fabric for sale since my SO said he doesn't want to lug all this when we move lol
