OT: Cut and Show - Anja's first haircut

We took Anja and got her hair cut this weekend. First haircut ever. She is 4, so you can imagine she had quite the head of hair. Brushing and combing was a nightmare and 99% of the time involved tears and tantrums. She has been begging me for short hair, which I was just not ready for. Until yesterday. I finally decided that she wants short hair, she is old enough to ask for it, then I need to let her have it. So we got it cut short. REALLY short. We asked her which of her friends with short hair she wanted it to be like... "Maizy" short (maxnmaizy's dd who has a cute pixie cut) or "Annora" short (another friend who has a more dorothy hamill style bob cut) She chose Maizy short.

This is how she looked a couple weeks ago in one of the rare times she would agree to having her hair up. (that was another problem - she hates ponies and barrettes so it was always in her face)

Wow what a smart looking haircut she has. It will be so easy to take care of over the summer and it lets her pretty face show so nicely. I know how hard it is when they want to cut their hair. My dd is 19 and I cringe everytime she heads to the "salon", lol. What's a mom to do? She looks great.

Oh, WOW! What a change! Beautiful young lady. Julia says she does NOT want short hair. Good thing, I don't know if I could let her do it.

I just love love short pixie cuts on little girlies!!

Both of my dds have had them and now have long and I know what you mean about the combing, the washing, keeping it out of your food...that's my dirt girl Olivia and the other, Jonah is very tidy and clean and does her own hair.

She totally loves it! I keep catching her doing her fashion poses in front of the mirror. She had me take a picture of the back since she cannot see it well and exclaimed "IT IS GORGEOUS!"

Ohh, isn't amazing how nature and kids could be different. Maria Sara is 5 and her hair is "Annora" short, but just because it won't grow anymore. She dreams of ponytails, barretes and braids but her hair grows veeeeery slowly, she'd have a cut a couple times but just an inch or so each time to give it shape. I've asked the doctor and he says it's ok, but I'm sorry for my little princess.

Anyway you dd looks great and you'll have a very easy summer!

OMG!!! That is short and CUTE! I can't wait to see it in person and have her do some poses for me! I wonder how Max will like it...

Again having to find out news from AW instead of you!

I am so bad. So so bad.

Kiah thinks that Anja's hair looks like Max's. lol. I think she is more traumatized by the cut than any of us. Though I think I saw a tear in Axel's eye shortly after the first few cuts.
