My grandparents use to live in Big Bear when I was little. I still have my mukluks that I wore when I was about 3. I'd really love to go back sometime. it's been so long.

I'm not native, but I have family that is that sent Kuspuks to my daughters as gifts when they were born. From what I know, a Kuspuk is worn over heavy winter clothing by Native Northern people. Since they must wear warm winter coats, the Kuspuks are their way of displaying colorful clothing -- they are purely decorative and are worn over layers of warm winter clothing just like we would wear a shirt. Another way to wear beautiful colors.

ETA: It's interesting to see OOOOOLLLD thread revived, lol. No idea where to find a pattern though
