Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
Tried our my new coverhem machine and I am IN LOVE!!!!
This seriously has got to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. I just did a quick 3 needle hem and it looks so purty. And then did a quick binding job and it's amazing. No more popped necks and hems. It's so nice and stretchy
The downside to coverhemming is that now I need to have like a million cones of matching thread. Blah.
I'm just getting back into sewing after quite a few years and am pretty lost on some of the new things out there! Can you please tell me about a coverhem machine and how expensive they are? (I am assuming it is a hemming machine?!?)
You don't reall need to have "a million cones of matching thread". I wind matching bobbins. I place each one in a cup, so they don't tangle, this leaves the bobbin free to spin and unwind. It works for me.

A coverhem machine makes the nice hemming that you see at the bottom of your t-shirts Rows of straight stitching on one side, and funky on the other. Nice and stretchy too, works better than just straight stitching a hem that needs to stretch. I really couldnt stand using a double needle!
OK, so now I really HAVE to come visit, huh? If I bring a big pile of clothes will you help me finish them? I'll bring thread
Get your butt down here!!!! LOL Yes, I will help you! Actually I will SHOW you how to do it. It was SO freaking easy. Everything was all set to go out of the box. Didn't even have to adjust tensions.

I didn't even think of using bobbins! I thought of just getting 4 spools of regular thread, but I like that idea better
My dad has tickets for that game and wanted us to go. I think it's going to rain, but if it doesn't, I'm going to look for Hannah, lol. It will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack...
