I hate elastic!

putting it in at least. I haven't been sewing long but I really enjoy it. I made the outfits in my sig pic btw but elastic drives me crazy. Is there an easy way to do it? Or do I need to just suck it up and get it done? I am making my oldest dd a skirt to wear to her school concert tonight and I'm stalling on the elastic as long as I can

I've never done the serge & topstitch and I've only done the casing then thread method once enough to hate it. I do it the quick sew way. Butt the edges together and zig zag then lay around garment and fold over casing & pin. Sew on freearm machine by smoothing out the fabric right before the presser foot. Then stretch the waistband several times to distribute the elastic around all the fabric well and tack it down on two or 4 seams around the waist to prevent it from rolling over.

I think I'm some kind of freak because I love eleastic! LOL! I love how it completely transforms the garment in one fell swoop.

I serge it on. It works wonderful. If you don't have a serger, doing it the Kwik Sew way is good if you don't catch the elastic in.

Sorry you hate it so much. Learn to love it. You'll use it a lot. LOL
