Sewing mamas!Calling all AmityMama's who like to sew! Do you make quilts, clothes, diapers, bags? Do you love to run your fingers through fiber? Can't get enough just sewing, but want to talk about it too? Come on in!
Taking a break from my weekend todo list for a sew and show :)
Just finished dd and my outfits for the big family reunion. Batik fabric is really pretty blues and greens with turtles all over.
DD in her peasant dress with 5" ruffle at hem.
My skirt, had to lighten the pic- hope you can see it ok
I also made myself a green linen skirt this morning that is the same as the batik one only there is double topstitching on all the seams. The skirt goes perfect with the funky floral shirt I made myself last weekend Skirt pattern is my own way, no pattern- takes about 30minutes start to finish for one
Sarah <----next is headbands and then ds and dh's camp shirts
ETA: headbands are done!
7 are for sale, link in sigline

Cute fabric!!! I love matchy-match!!! So.....how do you make your skirt?? A 30 min. skirt sounds very tempting to me!
-Jill
I loosely measure my hips, very loosely aka with all the ease you want in your skirt (my hips are 47" but I measured loosely to 52"). I fold my yardage selvage to selvage and then cut ends together, aka 4 layers are on my cutting table. Divide your hip measurement by 4, for me 13", and cut a wedge from your fabric thats 13" at the top and tapers out to the full width of the fabric (60" wide fabric folded in half will be 30", 44" will be 22"......). So now I have 4 wedges, I did not have a pattern piece- I just taper with my ruler and rotary cutter. Next I use really wide elastic, this skirt has 3" elastic, and I hold it around my tummy and cut to comfortable fit. Cut a rectangle of fabric for the waistband/elastic casing that is twice the elastic width plus 1", length needs to be your hip measurement again.
Ok so now serge wedges right sides together, topstitch if wanted. Sew long rectangle short sides together and iron in half. Sew elastic ends together and slide inside fold of waistband. Now serge waistband to top of skirt and hem skirt (I serge and narrow hem).
I love that skirt Sarah! its so flattering for your belly. What a cute preggo mama you are, that baby has got to be just as cute. can't wait to see it!
