I disliked it so much I had to try it partial sns.

I really did not like the last issue of Ottobre. I didn't think I'd make anything from it except for that wrap top pattern maybe for Alicia. But then, I kept looking at it and I'm determined to make a cute dress from that "oompah loompah" pattern.

Alicia was asking me about when the fairy festival is, so I had that in mind. The color is really the color of a pink rose. (I used deep purple, but only let it soak about 8-10 minutes.) I think the outfit will be called "Rosebud Fairy" or something to that effect. Still have to make the petticoat, but I have to work tonight and I try to not spend all my daytime hours sewing instead of playing with Jac.

Just wanted to sns the tunic top/dress. I've had a really bad week for sewing as nothing turned out like I wanted it to. Oh, there's still a little more blanket stitching I'm gonna do around the hem, in case you are wondering. And, I really dislike how Ottobre does this scalloped hem. I think they make it more difficult than it needs to be, so I'm gonna do it my way next time. I think my way is much easier to get more even looking scallops, which these are not...but I decided that added to the "folky look".

Thanks for looking. I'm gonna try my best to stay off the computer today. I spend too much time on here and not enough doing the stuff that needs to get done!

edited to add...the light in my house sucks for picture taking and this will be for SOAA. Size is 86.

Great shirt. Too bad you didn't like the way Ottobre said to make the shirt ~ but great that you know a better way for next time.

It's very pretty.

I love the color! Do tell your way of doing the scallops! I tried that shirt & it is now in the UFO pile after I cut off the scallops, lol. To salvage the shirt I am adding a ruffle to the bottom. My scallops were so not even!

Maybe, I'll have to do a sew-along for the scallops.

Basically add 3-4 inches to the hemline for this shirt. Fold and press the hem up right sides together. Trace the scallop design along the hemline with the bottom of the roundpart touching the foldline. Stitch along the lines and then trim close to stitching. Fold hem down and turn to back as you would hem it. Clear as mud? That's how I did the hemline for that bee dress (except I reversed the scallop and made points) and it worked out very well. This cutting facings with scallops and then trying to line it all up....BLAH!

I think it is so cool how we each see things differently. It is nice to be able to share. I made this same top, but I saw whimsical and used a Dr. Seuss print and added tons of bright ribbons to add to the whimsy. I love how you took the same pattern made it look soft and flowery. I really, really like how yours turned out. I agree about the scallops. Some of mine turned out more pointy and some more rounded. I figured the ribbons would help camouflage the differences in the scallops. Actually, I think the fabric I used is so bright, it blinds people from seeing the flaws, LOL.

Oh I'm so glad you posted this! I'm planning on making that dress too and that sounds so much easier.
I love how you did this dress! So so pretty!
