i spy bags

Anyone make these? My cousin just sent one to each of my kids.

They are so cool. Looks like fleece and clear vinal sewed into a pouch and clear plastic beads with 50 or more little items mixed in.

Things like, plastic lizzard, mini playing card, different foamy shapes, assorted bead shapes with ABC's or pictures...

it is about 12in square with a clear circle to "spy" the items. attached is a tag with a list of the items to "spy".

Definatly a great idea...

Ebay link to a similar item.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...35647 29&rd=1

I think I will by making a bunch of these to have on hand for gifts! I'm having more fun with these than the kids are! LOL

I've made them. I use bird seed mix inside. Kids love them.

Marcey,
Where do you get the filler? Do you use clear beads too?
My dd has an eye spy bottle we got at a craft fair - very similar, small items hidden in birdseed (sunflower seeds). It gets a lot of use. I think the fabric and vinyl sounds like a great idea - easier to squish things around to find the goodies - rolling the bottle only moves things a little.

Oh, that looks so cool! What a neat idea! I'm going to have try that. I was just fondling the bag of glue beads at JoAnn's tonight. This is the perfect excuse for me to buy some, lol!

I made some last year at a craft day at church. We used the filler from wal-mart that you would use to stuff beanie babies.
I don't know the real name of it....

I want to make new ones for my boys and I have been collecting junk for the past year- keys that we don't know what they go to, a wheel off a broken car, buttons, etc....

My boys love theirs. We keep it in the car as a car toy.

I've seen those, and have been wanting to make some. I think they would be great on long car trips to keep the kids busy.

I love this idea but have no clue where I'm going to get the little stuff to put in it kwim?

I'm going to have a bunch of the clear heavy plastic from the rolls at WM soon and I'll need projects for it. It is protecting the lower portion of the fabric covered wall in the kids room and we are planning to take it down and paint soon.

So the question is... where to find the little stuff to put in these types of projects.

We made this for a craft at dd's bday party. But we just used plastic rectangular containers from Michael's and rice for the filler. We put in things like jingle bells, pom poms, googly eyes, little critters from a party store (frogs and such), mini erasers shaped like ladybugs, smile face confetti, ... if you go to a craft or party store and look around for a while things start jumping out at you as possibilities

I love that idea! I don't have time to squeeze those onto my Christmas sewing list, but now I know what I'm going to make my two youngest for valentines day!

Oooh, I just had a brainstorm! I'm going to empty the little jar of stuff on the dryer! You know, the things you find in the bottom of the washer that the kids didn't take out of their pockets? I think I've got charms, micro machines, legos, magnets, who knows what, lol. Also, I was thinking about my button collection. I have a lot of different novelty buttons. Trees, bugs, fish, hearts, flowers, watermelon, cows, stars, balloons... I might do one with just buttons! Just some ideas to throw out for the people who are wondering what to stick in there.

What a great idea!! These will be great for the kids' travel-bags when we take our trip this summer. I'll start collecting little bits to put inside them now.
