How many mommas have a coverstitcher now?

Seems like alot of mommas have been getting a coverstitcher lately! Let's take a little inventory:

If you have one, please answer:

Which coverstitcher do you have?
Does it also serge?
Do you use it solely as a coverhemmer?
What model?
When'd you get it?
Have you figured it out yet?
How do you like it?
how much $$$?
Where'd you buy?
new or used?

Re: How many mommas have a coverstitcher now?

Which coverstitcher do you have? Babylock coverstitch only machine

Does it also serge? No

Do you use it solely as a coverhemmer? Yes

What model? BLCS

When'd you get it? Early September

Have you figured it out yet? For the most part. Allison got the tensions right for me, the rest is pretty simple.

How do you like it? I'm pleased with it. I made myself a few tshirts before we went on vacation and I am very happy with how nice and flat the necklines lay. Before I got the coverstitch machine I wasn't able to make a decent tshirt without using FOE. My necklines were always wavy and no amount of steam would fix them.

how much $$$? $900

Where'd you buy? Local store

new or used? New

Heather I'm jealous! That's a great price for BL coverstitch. While I love my machine, they don't make any attachments for it. I have to measure and iron my hems before stitching them.

I have it set up for a narrow two-needle stitch now, the needles are both at 6 and the looper is at 2.

Here's another thread with Allison and Heather's tension settings listed: http://www.amitymama.com/vb/showthre...hreadid=190701

OMG mine are way off, lol. Off to read that thread, thanks!

Alison. I got very lucky with my machine! Though, my local dealer has them on sale new for $799 right now. My BL sewing machine machine is in the hospital and I was checking out the deals

So what exactly does a coverstitcher do? Does is make like a straight line on the outside and kind of like a serging thing on the raw edge on the inside? Is that right? What's the difference between that and a serger?

I don't have either, but I'm curious. And I just figured out the "serging stitch" on my sewing machine.

Thanks!

Shanna - who is already trying to figure out what to spend her Christmas money on.

shanna - if you look at RTW tshirts, this is a double row straight stitch with a serger stitch on the inside. It is mainly used for hemming and self binding.
