So do you know if this will be an ongoing thing, or will we have a deadline to get stuff to you, Branwyn?

Also, I plan on donating formula via the babymarketplace in lieu of gifts for several relatives on my Christmas list. Just wanted to throw that idea out there in case anyone else has hard to buy for people who appreciate good causes

this will be ongoing until the needs are met (which probably wont happen in the next 5 years).

thats a great idea!

I just paid for a banner ad at the top for 30 days, because I think this is a very good cause. Heather's group is in the process of going non-profit, but till the paperwork is done, they have to pay for the advertising. The banner is paid until December 18th. If anyone wants to make a donation, no matter how small, to help cover this cost, please pm me. thanks~

I'd like to help too, but I have a question...is it an ongoing thing or is there some sort of deadline? I'd like to do a little here, a little there when time allows, but if it's a rush-rush sort of thing with a deadline, I don't know how much time will allow me to contribute.

I am so doing this!! This will be my new charity passion--it's about time for a new one.

Can someone post a new thread to let us all know when the pattern is up in case some of us, namely *me* (LOL), forget to check for a while? Thanks!

It has quickly become mine...lol

I even bought a banner for a month...rofl, but it is for a great cause. I am sure Branwyn will post as soon as the pattern becomes available. I know I will keep checking. I have put boxes and boxes of stuff together already. I contacted 2 dental offices where I have "connections", and I am getting donations of children's toothbrushes, children's toothpaste, and dental floss.....as well as al their old scrub uniforms. I find people are very willing to give if they know it is for a good cause!

There is a link in Heathers site with a HUGE list of all kinds of stuff that they NEED. Things we take for granted EVERYDAY!!!

My heart goes out to these kids.....

Peace~
Sherrie

Edited to add link: List of items NEEDED!!!

I have a friend who just adopted a baby from Belarus, Russia (her 4th adopted from there) and she told me they don't use diaper covers there...they use tights to hold up prefolds. When the baby uses their diaper the whole outfit gets changed. I'm wondering if it's the same with this orphanage.

Does anyone know if that pattern for tie overalls made it to the boards yet? I've been keeping an eye out but haven't seen it.

Sherrie...I could go in on some Killington for this. I probably won't have time to sew until after the holidays but I can prepare for it now. How much per yd...do you know? I'm thinking I could do maybe 20yds worth.

a note:
the pattern is not up yet. heather has to receive the pattern from the ministry and then copy it and then make it into a PDF and then get it loaded on the site. never fear! i will post when it goes up, both here, on my threads and on a separate thread

Sorry. Been away from the computer for a while. I am trying to finish up some sewing for other people so I can get started on this.

I am thinking: wool covers would work well because they can be hung to dry out, but would it be gross to use a cover on a different baby? (which would happen more than likely).

Also, I am thinking that quick-dry fitteds or AIO's would be best since they don't seem to use pins very much. Like a fleece or wool cover with a fold-out soaker (prefold, whatever) that can be hung to dry. -or- we could do a bunch of birdseye flats...

Sherrie, do you have any more birdseye available?? I can use the yardage that I bought from you to make some...plus I just got a bunch of killington in the mail, so when the pattern goes up, I can use it for those.

I just got a bunch of wool that wasn't expected, so I can use that for covers.

Also, Branwyn, has the winter shipment been sent already or is there a timeline for it?
