SewAlong ~Starleigh Headbands!

This sew and show is brought to you via the inspiration of starleigh (see original sewalong here: http://www.amitymama.com/vb/showthre...light=headband ), the sewing expertise of my little sister Tobey who is 8yrs old and my photo taking and direction writing- Enjoy!

Materials:

6"x14" piece woven fabric
2.5"x11" piece woven fabric
7" piece of 3/4"elastic

Step1: Assemble your supplies

Step2: Using 1/4-3/8" seam allowances (use this throughout), sew woven fabrics right sides together along long side. This will make two long tubes.

Step3: Turn your tubes right sides out and press, centering the seam. (to flip the small tube I had to sew the small end closed and use my 'turn it all', cool notion from JoAnn's, and then trim the end off)

Step4: Next thread your elastic through the small casing

Step5: You are now going to make an elastic and fabric tube sandwich. Center your small tube, with elastic inside, right sides together with the large tube.

Fold one side of the large tube over the elastic casing.

Fold other side of large tube over elastic casing.

Step6: Sew over end, I go back and forth 3 or so times.

Step7: Do the same with the opposite end.

Step8: Pull the stitched ends so that the headband is complete.

Step9: Wear and enjoy!

*If you would like to sew these assembly line fashion just see Starleigh's instructions, linked above*

That is my sister's 1222, since we were at my mom's. I love it too. I spent time today sewing on all the machine's at my mom's house. I was binding minkee and minkee and it was slipping and sliding all over while I was working on her DesignerI, not horrible- more just what I expect when working with this fabric. When I ran out of thread I opted to just move over to the 1222 and oh my goodness it was lovely- everything feeded lovely!

Oh, THANK YOU!!! I read and re-read the original instructions, and though they were very well written, I could not wrap my tired brain around the process. I guess I'm a more visual person than I have realized, lol!!

These will be awesome for spring/summer.

Thank you! This is the first Sew-along I've printed out in a long time. Can't wait to make matchy-matchy headbands for me & Lydia. I'll be using my Featherweight for this project.

I agree with Barb, except I don't have a featherweight. I'm already envisioning matching headbands for all the girls outfits. I made one for Ellie for one of her back to school outfits, but it was kind of a fly by the seat of my pants thing and it didn't turn out that well. Ellie and Isabelle both love headbands!!

Sarah, I love that Eiffel tower fabric too. Do you remember where you got it?
