Does anyone know how to do a SYSTEM RESTORE on Windows 98?

My dad has a virus and needs to restore his system, and I have no idea how to do it on 98.

TIA~ Jodi

I don't know if this is of any help to you, but when we got a virus, we basically erased our harddrive and used the restoration disk that came with the computer. DH did it and I remember something about running it in MS-DOS.

Not sure if it will work like XP, but I jst had to do this yesterday

Click on Start

Then All programs

Than accessories

Then system tools

You should see system restore in this menu

HTH

ETA, just found this online

win98 and win98se do not have system restore

.... you restart the pc, press f8, then choose command prompt only. At flashing curser you type: scanreg /restore, and restore from a previous day. By default this will only list the last backups. Win98 backs up your registry once per day, so you probably have the last 5 days there. If you want to change this, you edit c:\windows\scanreg.ini, change the MaxBackupCopies= to whatever you want.
