Yep. EVERYONE (on a pc) should run windows update on a WEEKLY basis to keep themselves protected from stuff like this.

I was updated but DH wasn't and it messed up his computer... he had to reload windows.

Yep, my dad got hit this weekend and blamed my husband (poor guy) But the last time we tried "updating" windows, we downloaded a virus. Are we in a lose lose situation here?

Where were you updating windows from? If you goto Tools-> Windows Update from IE then it will update for you. There has never been a virus passed through Windows Update.

Smarty pants husband clicked on a pop-up window for an update, and wham bam boom, later gator computerator. Ok, so I can't rhyme. I tried.
