well, i dont have cable, but we have DSL now. and a new computer. so between the dsl and new computer this thing flies. it doesnt even take a second for my page to load. I am amazed at how fast it is. i know i do much more reading and posting because of it.
i dont think i could ever go back to dial up again. lol!

We had cable at the other house and we have DSL here. I can't tell a difference in speed. I like them both equally. I will never go back to dial-up again!

I just switched to road runner last month, and I'm not really impressed. It uploads pictures faster, and sometimes loads pages faster, but my open windows freeze a lot. DH & my mom aren't too impressed with it either. Plus, outlook express eats my emails, so now I don't want to use their email service either.
I got a discount price for my first three months, and after that I may switch back to AOL (but broadband instead). For $55/month I want FAST service ALL the time, not SOME of the time.
I kept hearing how "screaming fast" cable was, and I don't know why it's not working that way for me.

I miss my cable We moved into a new development and cable isn't up here yet so we have to suffer with dsl. My service through the cable company was much more reliable than dsl. It all depends on the carrier though.
shanleysmama, it sounds like you are having problems with your browser and not the cable itself. When I used netscape (not an updated version) it used to crash all the time. And it didn't make a difference if we had dsl or cable. So even if you are using IE or Netscape make sure it's a good version. Sometimes certain versions aren't very stable. If you are losing emails that isn't necessarily because you have cable either, but it could be your provider.
we are paying $30, for verizon dsl, although that is a $5 discount cause dh works for verizon. but thats still only $35 and we absolutely love it. its really fast, but i also have a new computer we just bought, my last one crashed last summer and i was offline for a long time.
Yes, $55/month. It's $45/month if you have cable, which we don't (if we got cable *and* ISP, the total is $85/month). I'm getting 3 months at $35/month, plus I signed up under one of my rewards programs and getting 1000 points, which is worth $5, woo hoo, LOL.
I was having problems with AOL, and just reinstalled IE last month. I've been sitting here reading my email at hotmail, and the pages are loading s-l-o-w-l-y. I upgraded because I wanted to "get on and get off", and it's taking forever for me to get stuff done. I'm about reading to rip my monitor off my desk and throw it, as I have NO patience with this.
Our computer is a year old, it's a Pentium 4, and the installers said there was nothing wrong with it, so I'm kinda stumped.
