I know how to hide it, but I want it gone off my computer. I've done a file search, even deleted the one file that came up w/ "mysearch" but it's still there.

go to www.spybot.com

it's a free spyware dectector. that means that all of those annoying things that suddenly get on your computer our detected and cleaned (not viruses). like xupiter for instance - and hotbot, hotbar, gator, etc.

it's completely free and so good that it's one of the few places i would willingly donate money to in order to keep it.

it takes almost an hour to run, depending on your conncetion speed. it should take care of your problem.

but I had a browser hijacker, where everytime I went to go to my homepage in Internet Explorer it would go to coolsearch.com

I annoyed the heck out of me.

I downloaded spybot and it found and removed a bunch of spyware on my computer, but not the hijacker.

I then downloaded spysweeper (trial version, not subscribed) http://www.spysweeper.com/ and now I have a homepage shield that prompts with with a yes or no question whether I want to change my IE homepage or not upon Windows startup.

So no more coolsearch now.

Spybot kept me from taking a bat to my computer to get rid of xupiter - LOL!

Glad to know about spysweeper, too!
