APPLE MAC VS Dell Computer

We're trying to decide which to get. Pros---Cons???? Why do you like what you have? I have payroll deduction for a Dell computer which is why we're considering it. Help me.

I had a Mac for awhile and loved it, but a lot of programs don't work for Macs. Also, the scanner & webcam I had would not work on it. I ended up getting rid of it because it was just easier to go with a pc.

When I bought my new pc, I ended up with a Compaq presario. Dell's are very expensive, IMO, compared to the "deals" that can sometimes be had at Best Buy or Sam's Club.

I personally would choose a dell vs apple mac. The only experience we have with either of those is the dell. My dh has had 2 dell notebooks in the last year. He's had nothing but problems with both of them. The company he works for purchases them for their workers so he doesn't have much of a choice. We also have a Gateway desk top computer that has been great to us and a Toshiba notebook that we've had for over a year and never had any problems.

Good Luck!

I have an eMac and my dh has a Dell (not sure which model). The eMac is much better, hands down. The sound and picture quality are better, and the eMac has fewer problems. The imaging software available for Macs rocks. The Dell often crashes unexpectedly, etc. Another plus to Macs is that nearly all viruses target only Windows systems; Macs haven't had to worry about any of the mega viruses and worms that have gone around in the past few years.
If you want a large variety of games you can play, a Dell might be better...but if you want a good, reliable well-rounded machine, pick a Mac

Yup, I'm in Sioux Falls--I have issues with Gateway--not their computer but dh worked there when we first moved here and was laid off the day before our anniversary an dso were 300 other people rather in a nasty way. Our Gateway we had was good though. We have an eMachine right now that is 5 yrs old and giving us problems now.

Thaks for the advice everyone so far! More???

you just can't beat the price of a dell! Dell TV Offers $399 and up with a monitor included. well worth it imo. granted we've only had ours for almost 1 year now but its been great. it did crash on us once but that was because my sister downloaded me a file from her computer and it was corrupted. it crashed my computer and i sat on the tech line with someone from a different country that didn't speak english very well but my computer was fixed!

MACs seem like better machines, but when something goes wrong, it is difficult to find someone who is able and willing to work on them. My dh was a computer technician for about 6 yrs. and absolutely despises them.

Dell's are supposed to be reliable, and you can get a good deal on one that has a lot of cool extras. Another option is to go to a computer show and find a good deal there. Do you have any computer savvy friends that could go with you? OR you can find someone who is knowledgable that can build you one for a small amount of money.

http://www.petertrapp.com is the computer show that we used to go to up in NY. I don't know if they have shows in CA, but if you are interested you can look into it.

Also, if you can't find someone to build you a computer, and if you want to go that route, my dh might be able to do it for you.

If you can afford it go MAC

Dell's definitely going to be less expensive but I've used both and wouldn't buy anything but an apple now. so much more people friendly, we've never had a virus, never crashes, our digital camera works w/ it w/out any drivers - friend of mine w/ a pc and the same digital camera has many more steps to take, we just have to plug our digital video camcorder in and it transfers, our ipod too....we've got 2 imacs, a G4 powerbook and a G3 yosemite...they're just awesome.

Well, I love Macs so I am totally biased. The iMac I'm on right now, we've had since 1999, we've never had any problems or anything with it. It still runs great! We also have a G3 from 2000 that runs like a top too. I've never had problems with my Macs unexpectedly crashing or anything. Never had a virus either! Even my PC lovin' DH is starting to see the light! The only downside is that there's not as many programs for Macs. But Macs are so innovative, if you can afford one, I'd definately get a Mac. The new eMacs rock, my mom has one and she loves it!
