I posted on the market about a neat local shop that is on etsy, and the community art project she's organized. The project is to crochet a coral reef: a woolly celebration of the interaction of higher geometry and handicraft, and a testimony to the disappearing wonders of the marine world. This work is being done by people of all ages, from all different areas and will be on display here locally for several months.
Details are on her main page

The original was in Chicago, and they have a few traveling exhibits.

The display will be in her shop window for a few months, then in December
Oregon Museum of Science & Industry will have it on display for three months. Very exciting!
Ava and I learned to crochet yesterday, and have contributed pieces and I'm going to keep working on more. Because I'm a beginner, my work will be quite simple but there are absolutely gorgeous pieces being donated every day she said.
If you'd like to contribute, please post here or PM me - I'm collecting donated yarn, hooks and finished pieces to help this very cool public awareness campaign and would love to have an Amitymama section in the display!
