Somebody please help me make a pattern!

I have no clue at all what to get for my husband for his birthday (which is next week) so I decided to knit him a few things. He saw the Steelers / Deadhead longies that were posted int he football thread last week and thought they were great. So, taking off on that I was planning to make him a hat and try to do the Steelers design on it. I also made him a beerbottle coozie.

What I would LOVE is to figure out a pattern to make wool felted coasters of the Steelers logo (the 3 little star like shapes). I am new to knitting so I don't know where to even start on such an odd shape! Any ideas? I am trying to dye the wool while he is at work so he won't catch on

Hey mama. I will send you the pattern for that Steeler Your Face design if you want to PM me your addy, and as long as you pinkie swear you won't make photocopies and give it out to all the knitting Steelers/Dead fans in your life, lol. I haven't found a good way to send stuff like that by email yet. If you tell me your stitch count (length and width) for the coasters I can probably figure out a design for just the 3 little diamond-y thingies too if you like. Lemme know, daddio.

For the coasters I am using Patons and my count is right on for their label. 20 stitches for 26 rows.

I made a test coaster of the star shaped design that didn't go so well but someone on another board posted an idea to knit the points (4 of them) and then attch them to a center peice which I will try tomorrow.

NO problem. I have a soft spot for a man who appreciated a good hand knit, lol. When you said you were doing coasters I wasn't sure if you wanted one colored diamond on each coaster to make a set that formed the logo or if you wanted all 3 stars on one coaster, so I did both. And since you said they were going to be 20x26 I gave you a 3 row/stitch border all around. I didn't knit them up so I can't promise 100% that they'll be perfect, but they look good on the graph to me. They'll be in the mail today if I can beat the mailcarrier to the box, lol. I hope they work out for you OH, another tip. For the Steelers logo, cherry, lemonade and berry blue kool aid dye natural wool into the perfect Steelers colors You just have to use a lot of lemonade to get a solid bright yellow. Good luck!

I am dyeing right now but with Dharma dyes. If I screw up (and I sure will) then I will run out to the grocery. Thankfully these are primary colours so he thinks I'm just doing regular crafty stuff

You're an angel!
