I made a nice thick wooly pair of socks for dh to wear in his wellies on the farm. Poor guys feet get so cold. I made them for his christmas present, but only had one done on xmas day. I finally finished the other one tonight.
I used the mistake rib sock pattern http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patt...mistakerib.htm from here. It was pretty easy considering it was my first pair of socks. The first one of the pair is a bit wonky as I learned some of the finer points of making socks, but the next one is just peachy. I used a worsted weight wool, which is much heavier than what the pattern calls for, but I wanted them to be double thick and warm for inside his big ol' wellies.
Sorry for the fuzzy pic. I was in a hurry tonight. They are kind of a mustard yellow and forest green.
Congratulations! It's sort of an "I've arrived!" moment when you complete your first socks. All that talk about turning the heel, the wispers the questions...lol
I'm working on some socks for my toddler. Love socks!!
