Fruit Hat morphed to Acorn Hat its a ?

I have been knitting several fruit hats from the Ann Norling pattern for the new babies at church. One of the ladies at church has commisioned me to make an "acorn hat" for her son. I want to avoid purchasing a pattern although I have seen a few out there. I also want something that I can basically do from memory. I can picture it in my minds eye. I thought I would knit it the same as a fruit hat exept instead of the leaves I would just switch to a dark brown and knit the top part of the hat. Does this make sense to anyone.
I would use a cream or light colored brown for the bottom of the acorn and the dark brown for the top including the little stem.

Help! I want it to look just right especially since I am being paid.
