What's the best yarn for . . .

a soap sack? I have wool, wool-ease, cotton. I have acrylic but I know that wouldn't be great. TIA!

How about hemp/cotton or hemp/wool blends? A little scratchy to get ya clean, but still soft enough...

Are you using a pattern? I would love one!

I use cotton for mine and just size a bit big to take into account the shrinkage (its not too bad though)

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not have any hemp blends and cannot get any locally. I do have plain wool and plain cotton. I am leaning towards the cotton for the soap sack anyway. I am still debating what to make for the baby. This is for a mommy with three little ones, probably all very little. She is young.

I do not have a pattern. I rarely follow one. I usually make a decorative row on my napkins that could serve as a row to run a drawstring through. So, I will probably do some form of a napkin that I can either form into a bag or knit in the round.
