I give up *Sigh*

i think i was jsut not meant to knit.

I have quite a few hanks of organic, sheep friendly yarn here..and i finshed my first real soaker a week and a half..maybe two ago.

well i have lanolized it 4 times now...i even conditioned the crap out of it last time in desperation and ds WILL NOT wear it(it's peaceflece). apparently he will only wear merino...which is fine but i can't afford sheep freindly merino and i feel very uncomfy with buying commercial merino. sigh

and i just don't like knitting with acrylic..lol

so i guess i am done as we can not afford for this to be a non-utilitarian hobby for me.

but dang it, i liked knitting, i had a knack for it

i don't know maybe i will try to knit with acrylic again..something is better than nothing right?

I crochet, so I don't kow how it knits, but how about cotton? Or maybe try some wool blends since they're a bit cheaper.

what about recycling a thrift store merino sweater? Would you feel happier about buying that?

There are other utilitarian things to knit besides soakers. I enjoy knitting useful things too but I have no need for soakers. Sweaters, dishcloths, rugs, blankets, placemats....

I don't love acrylic yarn either. And wool is beyond my budget for bigger projects. Not to mention I'd go insane if I spent all kinds of time and money knitting something from nice wool yarn and dh or dd ruined it in the washing machine. I tend to gravitate toward cotton yarn.

Have you checked out the prices at Knitpicks.com? I know I keep mentioning it; I promise I don't know the people who run the site...I just think the prices are really reasonable for wool and wool blends. They now have cotton and cotton blends as well as some novelty yarns.

My friend had good luck knitting soakers from their cheapest wool yarn. I bet the cotton would be good for dishcloths, etc...
