Please read...

I have no talent to sew anything, that is why im asking you....

When my son Andrew was stillborn July 2 2004 at 34 weeks, (he passed away June 22)we werent prepared whatsoever for it...someone who ill forever be grateful for had sewn a gown and cap with matching blanket set for "An Angel" who would need it...I dont know who this person was, but after the shock of losing my son, I thought about it...and decided I wanted to do the same thing for someone who unexpectedly looses a child...So what id like to do is put together some layette/gown/blanket sets and take them to our local hospitals here in Texarkana Texas...(we have two)

So what im asking is...if anyone would like to help out by taking a few minutes each day to sew something for someones Angel and send them to me, that would be wonderful...maybe you have something left over from an old project and can put something together...

The sizes that are needed are from very small baby doll size to newborn...from what i understand most (late) losses are from 24 weeks to newborn...so anything that would work for a child 1 pound to 8 or so...this includes blankets...keep in mind that it is easier to dress a baby in something that is footless and simply made...

I know its depressing to think about, but it happens every single day and there is a need...if you would rather help out your local hospitals, please do, even contact them to see what their need is...if youd like to send something to me for me to donate to ours, please email me at countrytwisti1@yahoo.com ....

Im going to get as much as i can together to take up to the hosptials on July 2 2005 in memory of my son Andrew...it will be his 1st birthday then...

If you are already involved in a project that this....God Bless you for it..you have no idea how much your caring means to a greiving family...I do...

Blessings, Wendy

Wendy,
I am so sorry for your loss.
I'm very glad you got that gown, blanket and hat for your little angel. I have some fabric in my stash right now marked for local hospital donations.

I made keepsake clothes and burial clothes for a little girl in our church born still from anecephaly. I used a preemie pattern for the burial gown that is available online, there are many resources for those things now but not so many nearly 10 years ago when I made the gowns for her.

Another thing to consider is donating items to funeral homes, especially those in small towns many miles away from major cities. The funeral director that handled the services for my MIL and FIL said they had buried many babies with nothing on because there was simply nothing available. A lot of the people in that area don't have the resources to buy and even if they did, there is nothing for them to buy locally. For those very tiny babies, burial pouches work very well and are much appreciated.

I hope you get a lot of donations! If you need any links for patterns I'll share what I have found.

What a wondeful gift you will be giving to other mamas who struggle throught he same horrible time you did. :hug

I do blankies for a few local hospitals here, for the NICU's. Literally some of them are as small as washcloths for the micropreemies. So, even if you think you don't have a lot of time to do something, you can take an hour and knit up a washcloth to send off. It will keep a very teeny baby warm and loved under your stitches
