I knitted SOCKS!!!

I have wanted to knit socks forever, lol, but was so intimidated by those tiny little needles. DH bought me the book Knit Socks! for christmas, so I had to at least try them. They are so easy! The hardest part was picking up the gusset, and that wasn't hard either! I think the yarn I picked is horrible, ew, whoever decided pink green & orange go together is color blind, lol. But they are cute & kinda funky! I love them!!

Really Cool!! WTG! I want to try socks but I am chicken! Did you do them on dpns? Or 2 circulars at a time? What size needle? I saw a set of teeny tiny ones at JAs that were packaged for knitting socks. I wish the Denise needles went smaller than 5's.

Great job! I love them, very happy colors. Socks are on my "to learn" list. I envy your knowledge, lol.

AWSOME job!! I love knitting socks. They definatly look ALOT harder than they really are.

And don't be intimidated by the small needles... you get used to them. You can also knit socks with worsted weight yarn, for a thicker sock. Then, you can just use a size 6 or 7 needle.

Wow those stripes match up pretty perfect! What kind of yarn did you use? I hate picking up stiches as well. The whole time I am doing it I think I am doing it wrong, it never looks exactley like any pics I have seen but they come out good so I must be doing it right lol Socks are so addicting!

I did them on size 3 dpns, so not even too tiny. Yarn is Lion Brand self striping sock yarn. Though, I bought the SAME exact stuff in another colorway ( the same as another lion's brand) from elann.com last year, labeled under a different company, and it was probably more expensive at elann.com. It was $5.99 for the skein, which was plenty to do my socks, and probably enough for a shortie pair of socks for Maya.

Socks are definitely much much easier than they look! I loved it! Of course, I like my socks short, ankle length, so they went so fast!!

Oh, the yarn is self striping, so if you start at the same place in the yarn, the stripes will come out the same. The stripes also helped me keep the socks the same since it was easier to count the stripes than to count all of the rows, so, I knew when I got to pink, I knew it was time to start the heel flap, etc, etc.

It is on my list of things to try. I am really intimidated by socks and cables. I want to make socks but am afraid that they will take too long and I will lose interest. I sometimes get knitting-ADD and need to make quick projects....

Yours look great. And I can tell you that my 12yo dd, who is a self defined fashion expert will rave about the color scheme.

When I do finally try my hand at socks I will try one of those self-patterning yarns. It is like the striping you have but it actually makes a patter that looks like fair isle work! A woman in my knitting circle has the most amazing socks that she just whipped out with it!
